2012 Event Schedule
Our preliminary schedule for the 2012 season will include the following events. Please note that we will add events as demand dictates.
Mercer Island 5K, 10K and 1/2 Marathon ~ Sunday, March 25th
We consider this more of a "warm-up" event for everyone on the Team. With distance options for everyone, this is a great opportunity for a little check-in with your body to assess your base building training.
Mt. Rainier Duathlon ~ Sunday, May 6th
Long Course - 5.1 mile run/28.8 mile ride/3.8 mile run
Short Course - 1.6 mile run/14.4 mile ride/3.8 mile run
We had such a blast here last year, it is now a staple kick-off, multisport event for our Team. We also get to support one of our fantastic Team sponsors along the way. Please contact Ginny for our Team discount entry code for this event if you do not have it yet.
Boise 70.3 Half Ironman ~ Saturday, June 9th
1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike, 13.1 mile run
The first of two events this season for those aspiring to tackle a half-ironman. We will also be using this as a tune-up event for our Ironcrew members heading to Coeur d'Alene so you can expect to participate alongside a big group of your teammates. Your individualized training program will have your ready to handle all that Boise can throw at you. You will be primed and confident for this amazing spectacle of human endurance and perseverance. The Boise 70.3 event never fails to offer up some exciting conditions and a great early season event to tune-up your skills
Ironman Coeur d'Alene ~ Sunday, June 24th
Our seventh year of Ironman training and racing brings us back to Coeur d'Alene. With a BIG Ironcrew of at least 13 hardy, strong and well-prepared souls . . . we will take everything that IMCDA throws at us, show it who is boss and enjoy that fabulous run down Sherman Avenue to the finish line! Please visit the Ironman page on our website for much more information.
Five Mile Lake Co-Ed Triathlon Saturday, June 30th
Our first of two volunteer opportunities this season. We will take this morning to help keep fellow racers safe in the water, provide much needed fuel on the bike and/or run, or welcome them to the finish line and hang a medal around their neck. Giving back is a good thing!
Lake Stevens 70.3 Half Ironman ~ Sunday, July 15th
Well, they moved this one up by one full month on us. Moving from a mid-August to a mid-July event, means that we will certainly need to be on our game a little earlier this season. We are on it! Another staple in our race schedule, this local 70.3 gives our team members a great opportunity to experience the grandeur that is a 70.3 event without the cost and hassle of traveling.
This earlier date also allows us to shorten our season a little and enjoy August for all it offers in the Pacific Northwest.
Benaroya Research Institute Triathlon at Seafair ~ Sunday, July 22nd
Sprint Distance: .5 mile swim, 12 mile bike, 3.1 mile run
Olympic Distance: 1 mile swim, 20 mile bike, 6.2 mile run
Our premier event for sprint and olympic distance triathletes. Your 23 week training program beginning February 6th will have you ready to hit the water on the shores of Lake Washington full of confidence and posed to exceed your expectations. From newbie triathlete to veteran racer, this race is for EVERYONE!
Islander Aquathon ~ Saturday, July 28th
This is the second of our volunteer opportunities for the season. Held right here on Mercer Island, the 2012 Islander Aquathon is also the USAT National Aquathon Championship. This will be a great opportunity to view some elite level racing while helping to give back a little at the same time.
End of Season Celebration! ~ Date TBD
Isn't this exactly why we put ourselves through all of this? We will find the most mutually agreeable date with our Team at some point in the late summer and celebrate everyone's greatness. This is truly the time to revel in your amazing accomplishments and pat yourselves on the back. We will also award our coveted "GIANT DUCK" award to the team member of the year. Let's just hope that Tom doesn't take the duck to San Francisco with him!!
It remains to be seen exactly who will dare to strip it down and head out to the slide at the Mercer Island Beach Club . . . are you in??
